Christmas drawings

The second is my sister's cat, June, and was her Christmas gift. The first is my general christmas card, and the bottom one turned out awful- I'm not pleased with it :c And I don't like looking at it. I got bored of it before I completed it, so it's unfinished in the way of storytelling. I was going to add a half sewn stuffed animal to help the idea come across. But enjoy anyway!

Bear Drawings

Bears! I did these on photosop with an intuos tablet. These were my mum's Christmas present, because she likes bears very much! The first one, I did by selecting an area and putting a gradient in the selected area. I barely went over int in places where it didn't look right, but it was mostly done with gradients. The second two were done with different kinds of brushes. My favorite is the bottom, because it's fun to do, and it's quite simple but pleasing :D I'll experiment more with that. Happy Holidays!

Zhu Wuneng Turnaround and doodles

Zhu Wuneng. He is a character from Journey to the West, a famous Chinese fairy tale. He is one of the helpers of Xuangzang, a monk who is going to get some scriptures from heaven. I haven't gotten to the part of the book where Xuangzang meets him yet, though, so i only know that Guanyin gave him that name (a Buddhust name meaning pig awakened to power) when he begged for forgiveness after trying to eat her disciple and being a bad piggy in general. Anyway, He is going to be helping Xuanzang to cultivate his conduct :3 and be a good piggy. Also, he was once a worker in heaven, I forgot where and what he did, but the reason he got changed into a pig man and sent out of heaven is because he tried to seduce the Moon Princess and that's not a very nice thing to do. Also he doesn't actually ride a cloud. I just put him on a cloud The Monkey King Sun Wukong is the one who rides the cloud.

Bumble Bees and Wasp

Not the best of drawings at all, but its finals weeks/month and it was nice to draw this and have some time to not be stressing about completing projects... Bio assignment. Also, the storytelling isn't the best but the wasp lady is stealing honey from the bees, and they don't like it. Buuuuut, wasps are definitely stronger and meaner than bumbles so they kinda just..... let her. To be honest, I really just wanted to draw bumble bees being cute, then kinda just stuck the wasp in there....

Fox Drawings

Fox! I added the source of the photos next to the drawings because one of my art friends said it would be a good idea to cite my sources

raccoon sketches

Raccoons are adorable. These are drawn from photos. the colored raccoon is from here naturesmightypictures.blogspot.com

Ibex

Some ibexes for bio :) they're incredible! They can climb vertical rocky faces because their hooves have soft suction material between the 2 hoof bits, and they have a lot of hold on the bottom. I studied Nubian Ibex from the deserts an mountainous areas between the middle east and Africa ( in that general area where the two land masses meet across the red sea)

Temple Sketch

A drawing I did while I was at the Buddhist temple. One of the newly 'graduated' was telling a story and I always find it easier to listen and remember while I draw, when I'm relaxed because otherwise I'll concentrate too much on memorizing every word and I won't remember a thing that was said! It was fun :) That was my second time going to the temple and I love how friendly and peaceful it is there. It's the same kind of peace and comfort and wholeness I feel when I walk into a martial arts lesson. Everything just seems Right.

Figures

Sketches I did of clothed figures at CTN I was to excited and busy to be able to sit down for a good amount of time, so I didn't get draw good ones, but it was fun anyway! This is my first time trying to seriously draw clothed figures and it was hard! Some advice I got, though, was to think of the basic shapes, not the whole cloth with wrinkles and texture.

Garuda Turnaround

The project was to draw a mythological creature. This is Garuda, the King of birds. He is a Hindu and Buddhist mythological creature, and one of the 3 animal deities, along with Ganesha and Hanuman. Garuda is the enemy of Naga (snakes) and wears several snakes on his body, as earrings, bracelets and more. He is knows for his martial skills and ethics, as well as for correcting evils. I don't know too much more about him because I only found out about him for this project, but there are some nice stories you can read if you're interested in looking him up.

Wasp Lady

My design for another bio project, which was to combine a human and an animal/bug. I did a wasp lady!

Mad Scientist and Monster Animation

This is a rough test of my friend's and my animation. There are important story points missing, for instance, the monster is supposed to be hitting a machine with a ray gun, and the reason the scientist turns to run is because the machine breaks and shoots out a jolt of electricity. But! Now, unfortunately  the project has gone to 'clean up' which means that this is probably the only video I'll be able to post of our animation in this stage... For some reason the program I'm using won't let me import the background and the jolt animation... But! This was fun to do! I animated the mad scientist and she animated the monster. you can find her art blog here- ghostpeppermint.tumblr.com She's a cutie pie! Thanks to- Professor De Fato for being a helpful animator and teacher, and my doggie for being cute.

Figures

Carrot Picker Sheet

My "construction/model sheet" for a project for 3D modeling. Our assignment was to design an excavator, and I came up with this handy carrot picker for bunnies with large families to feed.
My professor just said it's deadly cute xD

Figures

This is some of what I did in figure drawing today. I wasn't having the best of days, so it's not much, but it's practice! This model is always very fun to draw and talk to :)

Figures

So, I've always had a bit of trouble drawing long poses because how I went about gestures was very stylized and almost symbolic. But my current professor's approach has helped me a whole lot, and now I'm able to enjoy long poses now! I've always concentrated on movement and flow, since that's key in animation, and she does as well- only in a very VERY organic way, which makes it... not easier, but more possible to build off of the gesture. However, with this new development I've realized I have a terrible problem with getting proportions right xD The first and last models are the same, but drawn about 3 weeks apart. The top one has awful proportion mishaps! But the bottom one shows my improvement- it's not perfect, but it's getting closer!

Figures

Some of my figure drawings, with notes to myself. Weyer is my current figure drawing professor, and sh'es incredible :) She learned from my biology teacher as well!

Amur Tiger Drawing

Another Bio Assignment. This time we just had to draw an animal in an environment. I chose an Amur Tiger, or Siberian Tiger. They're very powerful creatures! Apparently they're one of the biggest felids to ever exist, and the biggest species alive today. I did this in photoshop. I always have a bit of trouble doing drawings that are very nicely done with proper lighting and and such, which makes a long drawing very pleasing to look at so this was a bit of a reach for me. I am hoping to be able to work on that so I can get better at doing longer drawings!

Raccoon Behind

This was a bio assignment I did! Our assignment was to sketch out 3 frames of a typical movement of an animal. I used this video for reference- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSB69sAY1s0&noredirect=1
Raccoons are so cute!

Team animation

I did this team animation with classmate D.Hoffart. I animated the mouse.

Chew and Take

Not too proud of this one, the texture of the timing seems wrong to me... And it's not fully inbetweened :O (actually, a lot of my animations so far are not fully inbetweened xD) This was during my second semester. Anyway, we were practicing a chew and a reaction ( or "take"- a change in emotion). Its always important to show a character reacting to a situation, because it helps to give the character a personality, so I was really excited to practice a take.
Also! This character is Fred- I'm not sure if this one is Disney's or not, but he's Zed's large cousin! I remember I had a tough time drawing him!

Quadruped Walk

We were learning how to do a walk cycle with a quadruped. This one was really tough to get the hang of! This is a dog with an odd long body :) But I think he's a cutie pie.

Floursack Jump

Jump animation. This one was the one I thought was most successful for my first semester of animating. That floursack is a Disney idea, and we used this design to start us off with understanding volume :)

Modified Walk Animation

One of my first walk animations :)
This character is Zed, and I believe my professor said that Disney animators used this simple character to practice animations. (My professor was a Disney animator before they shut down all the traditional studios and got rid of the 2D animators) Anyway, he's very easy to draw and I think he was a good character to start with!
